Margao police begin probe, take Francis to desecration sites

Francis Pereira was on Saturday taken to various desecration sites in Margao as the police began investigations into the spate of desecration of religious places in the city.
Margao police station in-charge, PI C L Patil informed that the accused was taken to the desecration sites at Pajifond, Calconda and near the Power House, Aquem where a number of religious places were desecrated.
The accused was taken to Calconda, where a religious cross, besides the Tulsi Vrundavan and Nandi of Shree Krishna Temple were desecrated. The police also took the accused to Pajifond, where a road side cross was found vandalised.
Accused Francis was also taken to Power House where a road side cross was desecrated during the same period.
The Margao police had taken custody of the accused on a transfer warrant to investigate the spate of desecration of religious worship in the commercial capital. The accused was earlier investigated by the Cuncolim police and the Maina Curtorim police to ascertain the role played by the accused in the desecrations in their respective police jurisdictions.

MARGAOThe Colva police arrested one person from Nagvaddo-Betalbatim following a complaint lodged by animals rights groups after they found cattle skin in the wee hours of Saturday at Betalbatim.
