MARGAO

The Goa Forward party finally lost its hold over Ravindra Bhavan, Margao with the government dissolving the General Council as well as the Executive Board of the bhavan on Tuesday.

Ravindra Bhavan, Margao was headed by Goa Forward Chief spokesman Prashant Naik and artist Sai Panandikar as his deputy since the day the government constituted the General Council and the Executive Board on June 30, 2017 after the regional party emerged as the key partner in the Manohar Parrikar-led coalition

government.

Reacting to the government’s decision, Naik said the decision was long expected, but expressed surprise that the General Council and the Executive Board was not allowed to complete the term till December 31.

“We were expecting this government decision for some time. But, we had thought that the government will allow the Council and the Board to complete the term till December 31,” Naik

added.

Though the Goa Forward Party had withdrawn support to the BJP-led coalition government post the July 9 political developments, after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant dropped all the three Ministers, both Prashant and Panandikar had decided to stay put at the Ravindra bhavan, even going to the extent of threatening to move the judiciary if the government dared to dissolve the Council and the

Board.

Since July 9 till date, the Board headed by Naik and Panandikar continued to preside over the affairs of the Ravindra Bhavan, before the government finally decided to appoint an administrator headed by the Art and Culture director.
