Margao school opens with air coolers, drinking water facility

Konkani Bhasha Mandal-run Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir school began its new academic year on April 7 like any other school as per the New Education Policy (NEP) implemented by the Goa government.

Unlike other schools, however, the  Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir school saw to it that the new academic year starts with provision for air coolers and additional drinking water facility for their students.

Take note, that the KBM-run school registered around 80-85 per cent student attendance on Day one of the new Academic year.

School Headmaster Anant Agni said the Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir school took the conscious decision to install air coolers in all the classrooms taking into account the weather conditions in the month of April and the concerns expressed by the parents. 

“We had launched an interactive session with the parents of our students for the last so many days in the run up to the school reopening. During this interaction, we gave the parents enough confidence that the school will come out with a solution to beat the heat wave”, he said.

He added: “The school management finally decided to install air coolers in all the classrooms as an added arrangement apart from the ceiling fans in the rooms. Besides, we made provision for drinking water facility , both hot and cold water, on all the floors of the school building. I would like to thank Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai for his help and assistance in putting these facilities in place”.

As far as the attendance is concerned, Agni said the school has recorded normal attendance at the beginning of the new academic year, around 80-85 per cent to be precise.

The school students appeared in high spirits on day one of the school re-opening. In fact, a class X girl student said that the school offers an conducive environment for the students, adding that commencement of the new academic year in April offers more scope for the students to study, learn and have more fun.
