MARGAO
With dengue cases raising an ugly head in the commercial capital, the Margao Urban Health Centre hopped from house to house in the Aquem area of the city as part of source reduction and cleanliness drive.
The drive was conducted on Saturday today in the presence of Prabhav Naik along with the Health Officer Dr. Socorro Quadros of Urban Health Centre, Margao, Sanitary inspector Jose, SFI Anthony Borges, FI Laximan Shignekar, SFW Somnath Lad, SFW Tony Vaz and NVBDCP Team, to Control the Dengue cases in Aquem ward No 22.
The team also included surveillance workers and field workers. Altogether 10 Teams participated in the house to house visits.
The 10 teams covered around 301 houses and checked 513 mosquito breeding places. For source reduction, anti-larvae spraying and fumigation were carried out wherever necessary.
Residents were informed about the ill effects of unwanted water collections in petri dishes, plastic containers, unused tyres, trays behind refrigerators etc, which are potential breeding ground for the mosquitoes, responsible for the spread of dengue fever.
Conducted at the initiative of Prabhav Naik, the drive will continue till next week, with Naik saying that pending houses will be covered in the second and third round.
