He was addressing a function organized by the education department in association with Info-Tech Corporation of Goa to distribute laptops at Harmal Panchakroshi Higher Secondary at Harmal.
The Government began the distribution of laptops to students of Std XII from Pernem taluka and around 560 students have benefitted from the scheme in Pernem taluka.
“The master plan for the Chimbel IT habitat will be ready within 15 days and the Govt is making all efforts to attract investors in IT sector to open avenues of employment in the State,” he said.
The chief minister said the cyber age scheme was formulated by the Government keeping in mind the scope of IT sector all across the globe.
“The IT sector is flourishing in many parts of the country and so, my government also intends to give the requisite boost within the State. This is the age of Information Technology. It is our dream to turn Goa into an Information Technology hub on par with Bangaluru, Pune and Hyderabad,” he remarked.
Advising the students to make proper use of laptops, the chief minister told the beneficiaries to use these devices to acquire knowledge of the world.
“There will ample job opportunities in the Information Technology once the Tuem Electronic city came into existence,” Parsekar said.
Others present at the function included Director of Education Gajanan Bhat, Info-Tech Corporation Managing Director Nilesh Phaldesai, ZP member Arun Bankar, Principal of Harmal Panchcroshi Asha Chari and PTA President Mukund Kaisuvkar.
In his address, Director of Education Gajanan Bhat highlighted the importance of knowledge and said there is no alternative to knowledge without computers.
“In this world of information technology, devices like laptops are a must for students. Hence, the government upgrade computer labs in the schools,” said Bhat.
