Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday hinted at broad changes in the State's industry scenario, even as he conceded to "power wars" in the State over commercial availability of electricity for the sector.
"I had a third round of meetings with my secretaries, IPB people. I am preparing a roadmap with the proper direction, simplification for industry to come to Goa. I am sure it will pay dividends. I do not want to disclose anything about the policy decision now," Godinho told reporters on Wednesday, soon after his visit to the national capital.
"Give me a little more time, we are working on it on a day-to-day basis almost. We will know how many industrialists and how many good proposals will come in to generate economic activity, generate more employment," he said.
Godinho also hinted at changing the IDC act as well as the State's industrial policy, in order to bolster the industry sector.
Commenting on the power situation in Goa, Godinho also welcomed the industry representative's offer to pay the additional difference, emanating from the government's decision to purchase more power in order to tide over the shortage.
"Certainly there are power wars as far as industry is concerned. We should re-address this and I am happy that the Power Minister met the Chief Minister and the CM was kind enough to immediately agree.
The Industries Minister further said that the state government should try to get more power allocation from the Centre, claiming that the state had grown in leaps and bounds since the allocation was finalised some years back.
