Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday moved into his plush office premises at New Vaddem, Vasco, on the occasion of his birthday and also expanded the paper bag manufacturing unit used by self help groups adjacent to his new office.
Godinho’s new office was inaugurated in the presence of BJP National General Secretary Daggubati Purandeswari who is on a two-day visit to the State, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade and former MP Narendra Sawaikar.
Former MLA Damu Naik, BJP organising secretary Satish Dhond, ZP member Anita Thorat, the Mormugao chairperson and councillors, panch members and many supporters were also present on the occasion.
“The main reason to expand my constituency office has been to make space available to meet people and also hold meetings while maintaining social distance. My new office has a huge space for a meeting hall and a separate work area for the staff.”
“We also have a conference hall at this expanded office with modern amenities like WiFi to address national meetings by video conferencing especially on GST," said Godinho.
Godinho said the paper bag unit for Self Help groups had also been expanded and upgraded and inaugurated by BJP National General Secretary Daggubati Purandeswari.
"We used to make paper bags as an alternative for plastic and today, the new unit can manufacture 50,000 bags per day,” said Godinho.
The minister said the inauguration of the Phase 2 work on Jogger’s Park was to be held on Monday.
“However, I postponed it but other works in the constituency are going on at full speed. Roads will be hotmixed, water pipelines are being replaced, transformers are being installed and some transformers are being enhanced.”
“We are also taking up works on sewage networks in the constituency and we are finalising a place to set up a pumping station," said Godinho.
