MARGAO
Firmly ruling out the possibility of deferring the finalisation of the Margao ODP on December 15. South Goa Planning and Development Authority Chairman Mauvin Godinho has slammed Margao MLA Digmabar Kamat for his comment on loot and that the ODP is being bulldozed by a person not connected to the city.
Mauvin told The Goan that there’s no possibility of further postponing the December 15 meeting called to finalise the ODP, even going to the extent of saying that the PDA has adequate numbers to give the stamp of approval for the plan. “We had adjourned the PDA meeting last time round so that the elected representatives get some additional time to give their suggestions. That does not mean that we can go on postponing the meeting. The ODP has been finalised after following the laid down guidelines. While other ODPs have been approved, it is only in Margao that these two MLAs are out to play politics in the planning process,” he said, while asserting that he would not allow these people to stall the ODP.
When his attention was drawn to the statements made by the Margao MLA at his felicitation function in the city on Sunday, Mauvin demanded to know how Digambar Kamat has suddenly realised that he is in no way associated with Margao city. “I was shocked and surprised to read in the media Digambar saying that someone not connected with the city is trying to bulldoze with the ODP. Is it not a fact that the very same Digambar had appointed me to head the SGPDA when he was the CM. Is it not the same Digambar who did not object when the Margao ODP was prepared by me during his stint as CM,” Mauvin demanded to know.
