8 cottages, spa of Bogmalo resort destroyed in fire

Eight cottages and a spa of Bogmalo Beach Resort were reduced to ashes on Monday. rnA source at Bogmalo Beach Resort informed that luckily at the time of the incident, the cottages were not occupied and no one was present in the spa and the total loss is estimated at Rs 1.5 crore.

According to an eye witness, smoke started emitting from one of the cottages at about 11 am which later turned into flames and due to the strong wind, the fire spread to remaining seven cottages and the spa which were in a row.
When contacted, Vasco Police said after they received a call at about 11.15 am, they rushed to the site. The Vasco fire tender informed that they received a call at around 11.30 am informing that cottages at Bogmalo caught fire. The fire officials rushed to the site and used three fire tenders to douse off the fire.
The fire officials added that eight cottages and a spa made of thatched roof and wooden walls along with television sets, Acs, refrigerators, and furniture was completely gutted in the fire. The fire officials said the cause of fire was due to short circuit and they are further investigating the case.
The fire officials informed that a guest house next to the cottages was also damaged due to the fire, incurring a loss of about Rs 50,000.
A source at Bogmalo Beach Resort informed that TVs, fridges, air condition units, furniture and other appliances got charred and the total loss is estimated at Rs 1.5 crore.

Tailoring shop reduced to ashes in Margao
MARGAO: A fire in a tailoring shop in the heart of the commercial capital on Monday evening destroyed property worth Rs 2.5 lakh. The Margao fire brigade, however, contained the fire from spreading to the building, thus saving property worth lakh of rupees.
Fire Officer Gill de Souza informed that the fire brigade responded to a call on Monday evening to a tailoring shop, Madar Exclusive tailors. He suspected short circuit as the cause behind the fire. He said the owner Madar Ahmed has claimed that four new machines and other goods stored in the shop were gutted in the fire.
