Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday hinted at some enquiry and action by the BJP regarding the High Court verdict setting aside the recent ward reservations notification for polls in five municipal councils.
Godinho was speaking to reporters after inaugurating a traffic circle with signals at the Assoi Junction opposite the Chicalim panchayat.
“We always have to think good of others but sometimes when we try to push others down, we ourselves can slip and fall down. I feel that if we have done something wrong, I am sure our BJP party will take a systematic enquiry and carry out necessary action.”
“If a mistake is done by some people, they must face the consequences. We all should not be held responsible. I feel responsibility must be fixed on those responsible.”
“Whatever that has happened is in public domain and everyone knows who is responsible for this and people now expect that the BJP to take remedial steps,” said Godinho.
The minister said the traffic signals were set up with CSR funds.
“If I had to follow government procedures, it would have taken more than a year and hence, I opted to install the traffic signal through CSR,” said Godinho.
Chicalim panch Marie Mascarenhas also spoke at the event.
‘Will meet aggrieved taxi operators’
VASCO: Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said that he would convene a meeting with aggrieved taxi owners in the next three days, to discuss and resolve their grievances regarding GoaMiles app-based taxi service.
“The taxi owners met the transport director on Tuesday and we are having continuous meeting to resolve their issues and making it clear to them what best we can offer and how best we can help them.”
“Goans are in taxi business and while we safeguard Goans, we have to safeguard tourism as well and see how best we can resolve this by taking care of everyone’s interest. We are also having meetings with our department officials in this regard,” said Godinho.
