MARGAO
Stating that writers should be able to take a firm stand and express themselves, noted poet Ashok Vajpayee lauded acclaimed writer Damodar Mauzo for his outspoken views on social issues and different aspects of life. “After taking a stand, Mauzo has been fearless in his writings,” said Vajpayee.
Vajpayee was addressing the inaugural function of a two-day symposium on ‘Akshar Damodar’ at the Ravindra Bhavan in Margao. Writer Mauzo, Director of Higher Education Prasad Lolyekar, Ravindra Bhavan Chairman Prashant Naik, Principal of Government College Dr Jaideep Bhatacharya and convener of the symposium Dr Rajay Pawar were present on the dais. “The current situation is chaotic and writers must take on the role to change this chaos without any fear or favour. One should not run away from expressing their views. Mauzo is a true literary giant because of his sharp attacks against evil in society,” said Vajpayee.
