Parsekar said that effect of the decision will be prospective and will not affect employment process that is already on. “The maximum age limit has been increased from 40 to 45 years for A, B, C and D groups of government service,” Parsekar announced. However, the decision will be applicable only to posts whose maximum age is currently 40 years. “Posts where the maximum age is less than 40 -- as in the case of police personnel, firemen, forests and excise guards, or more than 40, in the case of some A and B group posts, will not be affected by the extension,” Parsekar said.
