Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant conducted a meeting with the Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship along with the different stakeholders to discuss and review the action taken report of the meeting of State Skill Development Mission (SSDM).
The main agenda of the meeting was the progress made by different stakeholders of the Sagarmala project.
The various stakeholders present were Mormugao Port Trust, Goa Shipyard Ltd, Dept of Fisheries, Rural Development Agency and Capt of Ports.
Chief Minister instructed all officers, members and other stakeholders present to stress upon courses that would provide training to all segments of the youth including school dropouts to make them self sufficient and earn their livelihood. Emphasizing on aiming for 100% employment of ITI trainees, he urged the Directorate to counsel the trainees to imbibe a positive work culture in such a way that they continue and flourish in their respective trade and also asked to conduct Campus interview, Placement fair and Apprenticeship Bharti mela.
During this meeting, Deputy Captain of Ports highlighted the activities like redevelopment of nine coastal passenger jetties, registering 137 passenger vessels. He further informed that Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDCs) are being issued now online by DG shipping, Govt of India.
Superintendent Engineer of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) informed that a dedicated berth is provided at MPT and they have initiated action to develop a state of the art international cruise terminal to handle domestic and international cruise operation. He further informed about arrangements for facilitating medical exigencies support facility if the seafarer/passenger is in distress and port ensures that access to the ambulance is provided without any hindrance.
CM also directed the stakeholders to make use of available resources to train maximum possible candidates & make them suitably employable. He also urged to have better coordination amongst different departments to avoid redundant efforts. He further directed all Departments for awareness and implementation of all Central Govt schemes for the benefit of the common public.
