The Goa Forward party has requested South Goa Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS to annul the process to recruit LDCs, talathis and Multi-Tasking staff by the district Collectorate due to the non-compliance with the deadline mandated by Goa Gazette Notification No. 7/17/2024-LA-158.
A Goa Forward delegation comprising of party leaders, Mohandas Lolienkar, Durgadas Kamat, Councillor Pooja Naik, Vikas Bhagat and others drew attention of the district Collector to government notification published in the Official Gazette dated September 10, 2024 mandating the conclusion fo the entire selection process no later than October 31, 2024.
“Despite the clear statutory timeline set forth in the Gazette Notification, the selection process remains incomplete as of the required date. This delay contravenes the express provisions of the Notification, thereby rendering the ongoing recruitment process irregular and unlawful post the stipulated deadline of 31.10.2024”, a memorandum submitted to the Collector stated.
Later briefing the media, party leader Mohandas Lolienkar further demanded a probe under close monitoring of a High Court Judge into the jobs for cash scam. “It is in the interest of the government that a probe by a High Court judge is set up. Otherwise, people will continue to point fingers at the government”, he said.
In respect of the recruitment process of LDCs, talathis etc, Mohandas said the continuation of the selection process beyond the deadline prescribed by the Gazette Notification undermines the principles of transparency, fairness and accountability in public recruitment, thereby adversely affecting the interests of potential candidates and the public at large.
“It is an imperative of administrative legality and procedural propriety that recruitment processes adhere strictly to the schedules stipulated in official publications and notifications, as non- compliance results in legal infirmities and procedural irregularities”, he added.
To a question, Mohandas said the Goa Forward will wait for the district Collector to act on its memorandum before chalking out the next course of action.
