A youth from Moloca-Merces was killed when the car he was driving crashed against a crash barrier at high speed and then turned turtle after hitting a cement divider in a self accident at the Kadamba bypass on Wednesday evening.

A trailing bus then hit the car driven by the deceased, Sahil Bhat (23), as it landed in the middle of the road.

The accident occurred near the Sai Baba temple and the impact was such that the crash barrier was broken and the car was mangled.

The Old Goa police informed that the victim, who was proceeding towards Panaji, was shifted to the GMC, where he succumbed to injuries. The body has been preserved at the GMC morgue and will be handed over to relatives on Thursday, the police added.

The bus driver has been taken into custody by the Old Goa police and PSI Veronica Coutinho is conducting further investigations.
