MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar-Vasco, inaugurated a Centre for Competitive Examinations on the December 8 at the College premises. The Centre envisions the training and preparation of students for various competitive exams like the Staff Selection Commission Exam, IBPS, Bank-PO, Insurance, Railway Recruitment Board Exams, GPSC, CAT and various other government exams.
MES College has recruited professionally experienced faculty to conduct classes and enable this vision. Assistant Professor Dattaprasad Shirgurkar has been appointed as the coordinator for the Centre for Competitive Examinations at MES College. Shashank Mani Tripathi, IAS Officer, who is presently posted as the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Tiswadi Block was the Chief Guest for the the inaugural program of the Centre at the MS Kamat Seminar Hall of MES College.
In his address to the gathering, Shashank Mani Tripathi asserted that the most important quality a candidate must have to become a public servant is the interest to serve the public. He added that a candidate intending to become a Government Officer must have sympathy and empathy towards the common man and more importantly, an inner urge to serve society. He spoke of how a Government job is an opportunity to serve society and not purely a means of sustenance.
The inaugural gathering was welcomed by the Principal of MES College of Arts and Commerce, Dr RB Patil, who expressed his sentiments over the growing underemployment among today’s Goan youth. He hoped that the Centre would provide an infrastructural foundation for a better future for the students.
Malcolm Dias from TIME, Goa, acquainted students with the current situation in the job market and the need to enhance abilities and skills towards the same to acquire gainful employment. Lalita Joshi, Director of Planning and Development, MES, presided over the function.
Assistant Professor Dr. Freeda Cota e Pereira anchored the program which was attended by college students and faculty members of MES College. Assistant Professor Dattaprasad Shirgurkar, the coordinator of the Centre for Competitive Examinations, proposed the vote of thanks.
