Taunting the BJP’s Marcaim Block to focus on society, a group of MGP-backed members said they would have no fear if a BJP candidate contested from Marcaim constituency.
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Bandora Sarpanch Ramchandra Naik said Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar would win the next assembly election with a bigger margin as compared to the previous
election.
ZP member Chitra Phadate, Marcaim Sarpanch Deepa Naik, Adpai Durbhat Sarpanch Saruja Naik, Panch Jayraj Naik, Sadaguru Gaude, Bandora Deputy Sarpanch Saloni Gaude and Kavita Naik were present on the occasion.
The elected representatives were responding to allegations by the BJP Marcaim block that Sudin Dhavalikar had done nothing in Marcaim and that, BJP would win the next election.
“We have no problem if BJP starts its work in Marcaim. Let them contest as well. But we will win the next election with a larger margin than the previous election,” Ramchandra Naik said.
He also rejected BJP’s allegation that MGP had campaigned for the Congress candidate at the Lok Sabha polls in Marcaim constituency.
“We did not campaign for the Congress. Had we campaigned, the BJP would not have got any lead in Marcaim constituency. The BJP got that lead only because there was a Narendra Modi wave. People voted for Modi and not for Narendra Sawaikar (BJP candidate),” he said.
Naik also said the situation at the Marcaim Health Centre is improving, adding that they had already discussed the matter with Dhavalikar to add more facilities at the health centre.
