Mickky fears arrest in Utorda case, files for anticipatory bail

Mickky fears arrest in Utorda case, files for anticipatory bail

VASCO

Fearing arrest in the FIR registered against him by the Verna police for the Utorda incident, former minister Mickky Pacheco on Wednesday knocked the doors of the South Goa Sessions Court, saying he is ready to cooperate with the investigating as and when required and that his custodial interrogation is not at all necessary.

The Sessions Court has fixed hearing on Mickky’s anticipatory bail petition on Friday.

In his bail application, Mickky said he apprehends that he may be arrested by the Verna police in a cognizable and non-bailable offense by the police on account of a false complaint filed by his political opponents.

He submitted that he has already suffered at the hands of his political opponents and has been facing trial by the media in cases by the crime branch and CBI, which could not prove any allegations, adding that both the cases were closed and never went to trial.

In his application, Mickky contended that he has not committed any offense

under section 336, 504 and 506 (II), saying he is not involved in any criminal act in this crime.

Saying that attempts are made to tarnish his image on social media as well as in the national media, Mickky stated that just because he is convicted and jailed in one case does not mean he is a convict in all other cases, adding that all cases have to be proved in court with evidence.

Summoned by Colva police
MARGAO: In an interesting development, the Colva police called former Minister Mickky Pacheco to the police station on Wednesday evening ostensibly to find out about the details concerning the Gonsua-Betalbatim incident.
The police decision to call Mickky at the Colva police station assumes significance given that the police has registered only a non-cognizable case against him in the case.
When The Goan contacted PI Filomena Costa to shed light on the episode and explain why Mickky was called to the police station, he said the former MLA was just called to the police station, while admitting that the police has only registered a non-cognizable case against him.
In the meantime, Mickky told the media after his statement was recorded at the police station that he has narrated the sequence of events that led to the incident at the beach shack at Utorda. “I have denied that my vehicle has caused any damaged to the parachute of the water sports operator. In fact, I maintained that the person had invaded my privacy when I was having food at the shack,” Mickky said, adding that he has told the police that the person ought to have complained to the police if he had violated the law by driving on the beach.
