The meeting chaired by sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas witnessed gram sabha members demanding to know the enrollment of a group of migrant voters on the electoral roll when the inmates have been putting up in illegal houses. They further demanded to know whether the election authorities can enroll people on the electoral roll on the basis of property survey numbers or house numbers.
After intense deliberations, the gram sabha members asked incumbent sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas to write to the election authorities, including the Booth Level Officer, to ascertain the status of the migrant voters and delete their names from the electoral roll. The sarpanch assured the members that the panchayat would move the election authorities for the deletion of the names from the electoral roll.
The gram sabha also asked the new sarpanch to conduct a probe into the illegal houses that have come up in the village at Badshawaddo and initiate appropriate action.
