According to reports, Manoj Navelkar, a staunch supporter of the MLA, runs a taxi business and had prayed to Sai Baba, vowing that he would undertake a 28-km walking pilgrimage from the Sai Baba Temple at tourist taxi stand in Vasco to the Sai Baba Mandir at Borim, if Milind Naik were to win a third term as MLA of Mormugao.
Naik won in a closely fought elections and he was made aware about the vow made by Navelkar shortly after his victory. Naik then decided to accompany Navelkar on the walking pilgrimage from Vasco to Borim.
Accordingly, Naik, Navelkar, Councillors Kritesh Gaonkar and Leo Rodrigues as well as a group of BJP supporters decided to undertake this pilgrimage on the third Thursday of holy month of Shravan, by setting off at 5 am.
Along the way, Naik and his supporters visited the Damodar Temple in Vasco. They braving the rains during the day reached the Sai Baba temple at Borim at about 12 noon.
Naik and his supporters sought the blessings of Sai Baba at Borim temple, thereby fulfilling Navelkar's vow and they later returned to Vasco by vehicles.
Milind fulfills supporter's vow of 28-km pilgrimage on foot
The assembly elections may have taken place over six months ago, but NRI Commissioner and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik did not forget the vow of a staunch supporter and both undertook a 28-km walking pilgrimage from Vasco to Borim early Thursday morning.
