Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has lashed out at those opposing a proposed project under the Centre’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme in Salvador do Mundo and has appealed to people not to block the projects planned by the Tourism Department.

Speaking at a corner meeting in Saloi to campaign for the BJP candidate, Sandeep Salgaonkar, who is contesting from the Penha da Franca ZP constituency, Khaunte said a few disgruntled and disruptive elements are spreading false information about projects under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme of the central government for political reasons.

“These few dissatisfied and disruptive elements are deliberately making negative propaganda about the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. They are thinking only about their own personal interests,” said Khaunte.

“Let me assure that whatever projects the tourism department has planned under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme are according to the public needs of the village,” he added

“These people have no real standing in society and suddenly become active during elections. These disruptive elements should stop politicising the proposed development project of the Torda creek in Salvador do Mundo, under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.”

The minister said the BJP has worked hard to solve issues related to roads, electricity and water in the Porvorim constituency and will continue to do so in the future as well.

BJP ST Morcha State President Dattaram Redkar and other panchayat members were also present at the corner meeting.
