Minister assures upgrade of facilities at Chicalim hospital

Panchayat Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho has assured that facilities at Chicalim Sub-District Hospital will be upgraded.

He gave the assurance during an inspection after a healthcare review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

Godinho examined the infrastructure and spoke to officials to understand urgent requirements to strengthen services. The focus was on increasing staff and improving medical facilities to meet the growing needs of patients from Chicalim and nearby areas.

As directed by the Chief Minister, Pranab Bhat, Joint Secretary (Finance), visited the hospital along with officials from the Directorate of Health Services, GSIDC, PWD and the Directorate of Panchayats so that decisions could be taken on the spot without delays.

The team assessed the need for more doctors, nurses, technicians and support staff. Plans discussed included improving dialysis services, adding beds, upgrading dental units, modernising operation theatre equipment and carrying out other essential works.
