Parul University Goa has secured the overall first runners-up position at the 39th AIU Inter-University South-West Zone Youth Festival, marking a major moment for the state. It is the first time a university from Goa has finished at the top tier of the zonal competition.
Students competed against institutions from Maharashtra and Karnataka across dance, drama, music, literature and fine arts. The university emerged overall winner in literature. It was first runners-up in theatre, second runners-up in music and finished third in the cultural procession.
In individual and group categories, the team took third place in classical vocal solo, second in classical instrumental percussion and fourth in non-percussion. It also placed fifth in light vocal, Indian group song and western group song. The folk orchestra team won first place. Other results included fourth in western instrumental solo, fourth in folk dance and fifth in creative choreography.
In literary contests, students finished fifth in English debate, first in Hindi debate, second in Hindi elocution and fourth in English elocution. In theatre events such as one act play, skit and mime, the university secured third place. It also took fourth in collage making and third in poster making.
Provost Dr Lalit Lata Jha said the win marked a proud cultural milestone for Goa. Director Dr Devanshu Patel congratulated the students, calling it a reflection of their creativity and dedication.
