Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira on Monday said that his statement that the DNA of St Francis Xavier is running in all Goans has been misconstrued in some quarters.
Speaking to the media at his residence late Monday, the Environment Minister said, “What I meant to say was that the quality of peace, harmony, secularism and brotherhood runs in every Goan. I humbly request my fellow Goans not to misconstrue my statement and should I have hurt anybody, I would like to apologize to them.”
He added: “I once again repeat, what I meant was that quality of peace, harmony, secularism and brotherhood runs in each and every Goan.”
Asked to comment on the situation at the Cutbona fishing jetty, Sequeira said works initiated at the jetty have almost reached the end, exuding confidence that everything will be in place in the next 2-3 days.
The Minister said he may visit the jetty in a day or two to take stock of the situation, adding that the jetty will be thrown open after completion of the works.
