While maintaining that there was no violation in the permission issued to the mega project in Camurlim, Bardez, Town and Country Planning Minister, Vishwajeet Rane on Thursday assured to hold a joint inspection of the ongoing construction along with St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar.

Rane also said that if any of the TCP staff was found guilty while issuing the licence to the project then action will be taken against the concerned officer.

The TCP Minister was responding during the Question Hour discussion in the House on Thursday.

St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar said TCP officials were issuing permission/licenses to construction projects overruling the High Court order on the necessity of having six metre wide road access for projects.

“There are 15 complaints violating the HC ruling on the six metre road access in Bardez and one in Pernem,” Borkar said.

He said the Deputy Town Planner of Bardez Jaydev Haldankar has been blatantly granting permissions violating the rules and further ignoring to take action against complaints made to the department.

“A mega project is coming up in Camurlim in survey no 172/1-N which has no 6 metre road access. The TCP has given technical licence to this project,” he said.

He further said that the locals and the panchayat of the village are not being taken into confidence when such huge projects are issued permission.

The TCP Minister informed that people send numerous complaints to the department which may or may not be true.

“The definition of six metre road means three-and-half metre actual road width along with footpaths on both sides of the road. As far as I know there is no violation over the six metre road in the Camurlim project. All the same, I will visit the project site with you (St Andre MLA) in the first week of August,” Rane said.

The St Andre MLA informed that in another case from Nerul, the deputy town planner first granted permission to the construction and only when a complaint was made against the project the permission was kept in abeyance.

“The department should take strict action against such officers who fail to follow procedures,” Borkar demanded.

Rane assured to look into the matter and if the concerned officer was found guilty then action will be initiated against him.
