The State government will host Prashasan Tumchya Dari (administration at your doorstep) on March 17 to mark four years of the Pramod Sawant-led government and nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Ex-Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's death anniversary is incidentally observed on this day.
The day-long camp across all the talukas will be followed by Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa programme on March 18.
Under the first initiative, each minister including the Chief Minister will hear the grievances of the people in the respective Deputy Collector offices from 10 am to 1 pm.
Sawant will be present at Quepem, Vishwajit Rane at Sanguem, Mauvin Godinho in Sattari, Ravi Naik in Tiswadi, Nilesh Cabral in Canacona, Subhash Shirodkar at Pernem, Rohan Khaunte at Salcete, Govind Gaude in Mormugao, Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate in Ponda, Sudin Dhavalikar in Bardez, Nilkanth Halarnkar in Dharbandora and Subhash Phal Dessai at Bicholim.
“We aim to listen to the grievances of the people and to also create awareness about various Central and State schemes. At the end of the programme, government functions scheduled in these talukas will be attended by respective ministers,” Sawant said at a press conference after chairing a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
On March 18, the IAS and Goa Civil Service officers will visit all the gram panchayats and municipalities from 10 am to 1 pm, under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa 2.0 programme.
In another decision, the Cabinet granted a one-year extension to the scheme that offers government jobs to children of freedom fighters. This will be the last extension as only 90 eligible beneficiaries are left to be recruited.
“We expect the direct recruitment of the remaining candidates by June this year. The concerned department is personally monitoring the scheme,” he said.
The government’s extension decision comes after its temporary arrangement to accommodate these candidates in the Goa Human Resources Corporation (GHRC) was outrightly rejected by the children of freedom fighters.
“We requested them to take up jobs in the government’s GHRC for the time being and subsequently, when vacancies are created, they will be recruited. However, none accepted the offer,” Sawant added. As many as 270 children of freedom fighters have availed government jobs since Sawant’s reign.
The Cabinet also decided to accept Centre’s 5G telecom policy wherein Goa Telecom Policy will be modified in line with 5G Policy to avail benefits under the Central schemes; and create a separate Goa Gazetteer Department, which hitherto is under Archives Department. The departmental research activities will be undertaken by the new department.
