Mapusa Police have booked unknown miscreants for using a counterfeit rubber stamp of the Bardez Sub-Registrar to forge property papers and transferring ownership rights from the original owner.
Bardez Sub-Registrar, Arjun Shetye in his complaint has said that some unknown persons committed cheating and forgery to transfer ownership rights in their name.
According to Mapusa Police, the incident took place somewhere in April 2020 wherein the alleged accused forged documents by impersonating the actual owners of property under Chalta No 2 of PT Sheet No 67 in Mapusa.
Further the alleged accused used a counterfeit rubber stamp of the civil registrar-cum Sub Registrar of Bardez.
Police further informed that the accused produced the forged document before the authorities as a genuine one and succeeded in transferring the ownership right.
Mapusa Police have now registered an offence under Section 419, 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 472 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons.
