PORVORIM
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has accused disgruntled elements of defacing his banners extending Christmas and New Year greetings which were put up in Porvorim and has demanded a police investigation in the matter.
Khaunte submitted a memorandum to Porvorim Police Inspector Ninad Deulkar, stating that he had, as part of his annual exercise, put up banners in Porvorim after obtaining permission from the panchayats concerned.
On Saturday, he had convened a news conference to present a report card of the developmental work done by him in Porvorim constituency during the last three years.
“On the same day, miscreants defaced my banners by smearing them with black ink. CCTV clippings/footage have been submitted along with the memorandum to enable the police to conduct the investigation in a speedy manner. The culprits indulging in the act are clearly seen in the CCTV footage.”
“Such incidents had occurred earlier but they were ignored. Since this is a repetition, a complaint has been filed and I expect speedy investigations by police,” said the MLA .
Police Inspector Deulkar assured Khaunte that the police would conduct an investigation in the matter on the basis of CCTV footage submitted to them and would take necessary action against the accused.
