PONDA: Officials at the Bondla zoo went into a tizzy after five leopards were set free from their enclosure by miscreants on Friday night. Four of them were, however, caught by officials within hours.
The incident occurred late Friday when miscreants broke locks of the enclosures housing the leopards thereby allowing them to escape. There were two cubs, two males and one female leopard in the enclosures. One cub was, however, still untraceable.
Police informed that Range Forest Officer Mahanand Paryekar has lodged a complaint in this regards.
Ponda police has booked a case against unknown persons for breaking the locks of enclosures at Bondla zoo.
Though there were three staffers on duty, it was not clear how the miscreants entered the zoo.
