MARGAO
In an interesting development, a ruling Cuncolim municipal councillor Uddesh Bhiku Naik Dessai on Tuesday called on Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai, seeking his intervention in the matter of files going missing in the municipality.
Congress leader, Joaquim Alemao, has said that the ruling Congress-backed Cuncolim Municipal Council is stable, adding that councillor Uddesh is very much a part of the ruling group.
Sardesai, in a statement, stated that councillor Uddesh gave vent to his ire over the episode of files going missing in the municipality.
GFP General Secretary (Organisation) Durgadas Kamat was also present when Uddesh called on the party chief.
Uddesh told Sardesai that he has been telling the staff concerned to look for the letter submitted by him but they are least bothered, adding the same thing is happening with the public who are facing problems due to this approach of municipality staff.
Sardesai assured the Cuncolim councillor that he will speak to DMA regarding this issue. “Culprits need to be booked. They can’t misplace or miss the files, which are important to one who submits them. This is definitely a serious issue and hence people of Cuncolim should get justice,” Sardesai said.
Sardesai also said that the Chief Officer as the executive head of the municipality is responsible for mishandling the files. “Like this BJP government, officers working on the behest of ruling politicians have become lethargic and have no seriousness. This issue needs to be addressed and Goa Forward will definitely look into this issue,” Sardesai said.
Joaquim Alemao told The Goan that Uddesh was very much a part of the ruling group and the Cuncolim Municipal Council is stable.
On Sardesai’s assurance to take the missing files issue with DMA, Joaquim said the issue needs to be addressed, but hastened to know whether official files are not going missing at the Margao Municipal Council.
