Pernem taluka is currently going through difficult times and the public is suffering various issues. The journalists in the taluka should stand by the public and voice their issues, appealed Rajan Korgaonkar of Mission for Local while felicitating journalists on the occasion of birth anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak which is being celebrated at the ‘Journalist Day’ in India.
Journalists in Pernem taluka have been urged to stand by the public and voice their issues, as the taluka is currently going through difficult times.
The event was attended by Chandrakant Sangle, Gundu Raul, Shridhar Shenvi Desai, Gajanan Gadekar and Pernem Taluka Patrakar Samiti president Prakash Talvanekar, Mahadev Chari, Mahadev Gawandi, Vinod Mether, Maqbul Malgemani, Nivrutti Shirodkar and Tulshidas Kawthankar.
The appeal was made by Rajan Korgaonkar of Mission for Local, while felicitating journalists on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, which is being celebrated as ‘Journalist Day’ in India.
“Lokmanya Tilak expressed his strong opposition to the British and awakened the public in India through his newspapers ‘Kesari’ and ‘Maratha’ to ignite the spirit of nationalism and freedom in the minds,” said Korgaonkar.
“Though journalism in those days was different all together and today’s journalism cannot be compared to it, but the journalists in Pernem are also doing their bit to spread awareness among the public regarding their rights, which is heart warming,” he added.
