St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar on Friday confronted Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik over permissions for various projects in his constituency and demanded an inspection of these projects after alleging that several discrepancies had been overlooked.
Borkar cited TCP permissions for projects in Neura, Bambolim and retaining wall along Bambolim beach where he alleged that these were given by overlooking aspects of existence of traditional wells which were not shown in plan, CRZ violations, environment violations and other issues.
Borkar then demanded that an inspection of all projects should be done again in his presence so that these violations could be brought to the notice of the TCP officials and the permissions revoked.
After a long discussion, Naik called the Tiswadi Dy Town Planner’s office and issued directions to hold an inspection of the projects.
With Borkar demanding a specific date be given for the inspection, CTP Naik then issued directions to hold the inspection on April 16.
Later, Borkar informed reporters that several projects in St Andre are approved without ascertaining the ground realities. “Therefore, I went to the CTP’s office to demand an inspection of these projects so that it is shown to the TCP officials that the permissions have been availed by hiding facts,” Borkar added.
