Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has demanded that the drinking water supplied through taps in Goa has to be checked thoroughly and a course correction has to done on a war footing.
He said even the packaged drinking mineral water sold in pan-Goa needs to be thoroughly checked of its quality standards and all those people indulging in sale of spurious mineral water must be brought to task and punished.
“It is sad that people of Goa are living in fear and anxiety because the food and beverages they consume be it tap water (contaminated), be it the imported fish (formalin laced), be it the imported vegetables and fruits (pesticide laced), etc all have dangerous consequences on health and on life,” he said in a letter to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
