Cong threatens protest over bad condition of Canacona Bypass

CANACONA
Claiming that the Manohar Parrikar Canacona Bypass (NH66) has turned into a “Maha Danger Marg”, the Canacona Block Congress has threatened an agitation if the road is not repaired immediately.

A delegation from the Canacona Block Congress led by GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari met PWD (highway) authorities and inquired about the non-functional street lights and dilapidated condition of Manohar Parrikar Canacona Bypass.

“The newly constructed road has become bumpy and uneven, while street lights have stopped functioning. How can motorists and commuters have a drive in such conditions,” asked Bhandari.

Bhandari asked officers concerned to urgently repair the street lights on the bypass or else they should sit on the Bypass and alert commuters about the non-functioning street lights.

He threatened that Congress workers would protest and close the bypass if the road and street lights were not repaired. Among those present included Canacona Block Congress Committee President Pralay Bhagat, Canacona Block Mahila Congress Committee President Ursila Costa, Shrishthal Panch Rajesh Velip and District Secretary South-Goa Youth Congress Xavier Cleston Viegas.
