PORVORIM
A delegation of prominent residents of Porvorim led by MLA Rohan Khaunte called on North Goa Superintendent of Police Shobhit Saxena to voice concern over deterioration of law and order in Porvorim and a rise in criminal activities in the area.
Khaunte demanded a detailed investigation into the arrest of Krishna Naik from Salvador do Mundo by the Crime Branch on charges of possessing a pistol and 4 bullets.
“The seizure of pistol and bullets needs to be investigated properly, " Khaunte said.
During the interaction with SP, a woman from Socorro said she had filed a complaint against a person for harassment, extortion and threatening, but no action was taken by Porvorim police.
The delegation also told the SP that a complaint against man for cheating a girl with the promise of marriage and then abandoning her after four years of live-in relationship was also reported to Porvorim police station, which went without registration of FIR.
Khaunte said the Porvorim police station was losing its credibility as it has been refusing to register FIRs or investigate several cases that were reported to them recently.
“Residents have been facing lot of issues with the Porvorim police station. The police inspector has not been giving justice to Porvorkars,” Khaunte said.
Khaunte complained that despite requests, there is no police patrolling at dark places in Porvorim constituency and claimed that tenant verification was not done properly by Porvorim police.
