Aam Aadmi Party Velim MLA Cruz Silva on Wednesday visited the Sao Jose de Areal Panchayat, the second time in seven days, to take a review for monsoon preparedness and resolve issues affecting the village.
The MLA had a meeting with the sarpanch, panch members and the engineers of departments of WRD, Electricity, PWD and respective contractors. The contractors have been given a deadline to complete all the pending works and also to take up the work required before monsoons. The MLA also advised officials to find a permanent solution to issues of water-logging in specific areas.
The MLA along with officials also visited the site for shifting the electric poles obstructing the way for road widening. During the inspection of the nullahs, which will be taken up for desilting before the monsoons, the MLA requested every ward member to monitor the nullah cleaning work and areas prone to water-logging.
“I along with the officials will again review the progress the work approved by today’s inspection. Since the monsoon is fast approaching, the contractors were told to expedite the ongoing work,” he added.
