Contract workers from the Institute of Psychiatric and Human Behaviour staged a protest at Azad Maidan on Thursday demanding regularisation of services.
Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo visited them along with Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar.
Lobo supported these workers and assured to raise their issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant with a demand to sort out their issue soon.
The workers complained that the government has not been regularising their services and claimed that most of them have been working on a contract basis for the last nine years.
The workers alleged that the government is recruiting new persons rather than regularising their services.
"Our services are essential as we are looking after psychiatric patients. It is a difficult task and an experienced person can do it well. So, the government needs to regularise us rather than recruiting new persons,” said a worker.
The worker said he had joined in 2014 and had been working on a contract basis for the last nine years.
