Ministerial duties won’t come in way of Porvorim’s welfare needs, says Khaunte

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has said though he is the Tourism and IT minister of Goa, he will not neglect the development of his constituency and will strive to improve basic infrastructure such as road, water and electric supply to the residents of the Porvorim constituency.

He was speaking in Porvorim after launching the hot-mixing of 13 km of internal roads at a cost of Rs 3.28 crore covering the area of Gopal Nagar Ekta Nagar, Krantinagar, Oval Park and surrounding areas.

Penha de Franca Sarpanch Manisha Naik, Deputy Sarpanch Shalu Gupta, panchas - Swapnil Chodankar, Sham Kamat, Gurunath Vernekar, Safar Phadte and locals were present on the occasion.

“I will endeavour to make Goa a world-class tourism destination by taking all stakeholders into confidence. With regard to IT, unemployed youth are eagerly waiting for job opportunities in the IT sector. I will provide impetus to the startups so that employment is generated for youth in the IT sector while also providing opportunities for youth to become employers. Goa requires better internet connectivity,” said Khaunte.

Panch member Swapnil Chodankar also spoke on the occasion.


Penha de Franca VP to have CCTVs

Penha de Franca Sarpanch Manisha Naik said the panchayat would soon install CCTV cameras in each ward.

“It has been observed that though the panchayat collects garbage daily from door-to-door, some people throw garbage by the roadside. It will be easier to identify such people after the installation of CCTV cameras. Besides, Porvorim police will also be able to detect the offenders.”

“The panchayat is also in the process of identifying areas in the village for water harvesting under the ‘Pani Adva Pani Jirva’ model,” said Naik.
