OLD GOA
With eight days passed and the work on the extension of a jetty at Gaundalim continuing, Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldesai has warned that he would forcefully demolish it if the same is not demolished in another 10 days.
Faldessai had earlier given an 8-day deadline for the shipbuilding firm to demolish the extension of the jetty.
“The structure has come up 6 metres beyond the permissible limit by encroaching into the Cumbarjua canal. I will forcefully demolish the same if the shipbuilding company does not act on its own within 10 days,” Faldessai said.
"The work on extending the jetty has been carried out in connivance with a local politician. I will seek the chief minister's intervention in the matter. And if the company does not act, I will deploy my personal machinery to demolish the same," he said.
Following strong opposition by Gaundalim locals against the jetty extension, the Cumbarjua MLA conducted an inspection some days back.
The locals said the dock has been extended by filling the Cumbarjua canal.
