Faced with the mounting unpaid taxes by business establishments, the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has now turned its focus on telecom towers located within the city limits.
In fact, the telecom towers operating within the city have all come under the MMC property tax ambit.
MMC Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has asked the Municipal sections concerned for a detailed report on the location of telecom towers within the city.
He said the MMC is faced with non-payment of taxes from business establishments and that has resulted in a huge amount of unpaid outstanding taxes which the council is planning to resolve at the earliest.
The CO has said that he neither has bias nor anything against anyone including the business community of Margao, adding he and the civic body are there to assist them in every possible to do good business specially after the pandemic.The CO has appealed to all those who have outstanding arrears of tax to pay at the earliest.
