Officials of the Margao Municipal Council on Sunday inspected a stormwater drain at Aquem after local residents complained of sewage and foul odour emanating from the area.
Margao Municipal Council officials, along with Municipal Sanitary Inspector Sanjay Sanguelkar, inspected the area following instructions from PWD Minister Digambar Kamat.
Sources said the Minister ordered the inspection after local residents brought to his attention that dirty wastewater was flowing from a higher area into the drain, causing a foul smell.
The residents have urged municipal officials to stop the nuisance, which they said poses a potential health hazard in the locality.
