MARGAO
Margao Municipal Council library has been known over the years as the destination for readers for all ages, with the reading section flooded with readers at any given time of the day.
Come Monday, and the Municipal library may add another feather to its cap as the civic body headed by Chairperson Pooja Naik has decided to add another feature -- by making available model question papers for the benefits of students preparing for the Std X and XII examinations of Goa Board as well as the CBSE Board.
Thanks to the joint initiative by the elected body and the Chief Officer Ajit Panchwadkar, candidates preparing for the Goa Civil Services examination conducted by the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) will also get to scan through sample question papers, besides reading and reference material.
Chairperson Pooja informed that the municipality intends to offer free wi-fi facility to the students visiting the library from Monday after the inauguration of the new amenities.
“The availability of model question papers will attract the student community to the library. Besides offering them the facility, it will definitely help inculcate in the students reading habits amongst the student community,” the chairperson said.
The MMC library got the much-needed booster dose after incumbent Chief Officer Panchwadkar assumed office late last year. Soon after taking over the Municipal administration, the Chief Officer took the decision to get the Portuguese literary works translated for the benefit of the readers.
