MARGAO
Prabhav Naik, leader of Madganvcho Awaaz, has urged Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and BJP General Secretary Narendra Sawaikar to make their positions clear on the LDC recruitment process initiated by the Margao Municipal Council, which bypassed the Staff Selection Commission.
Naik said that both leaders are struggling to distance the Goa government from the jobs-for-cash scam.
He also reacted to former South Goa MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar’s statement that no BJP functionary is involved in the scam, accusing the BJP of double
standards.
“We have already submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, asking him to scrap the ongoing MMC recruitment process. We have also called for an ordinance to bring all local body recruitments under the Staff Selection Commission,” Prabhav said.
He added, “I don’t understand why Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP General Secretary Adv. Narendra Sawaikar are staying silent on the Margao Municipal Council’s LDC recruitment. If they remain silent, it will be clear that the BJP is supporting favouritism and nepotism.”
Recalling that the BJP government had passed an ordinance to change secret ballot voting to open hands voting during the election of the chairperson in 2022, Prabhav said, “Now, during recruitments, people want transparency, but the government is encouraging secrecy.”
