Goa Mahila Congress leaders, however, said that the organisation had urged Congress President Sonia Gandhi and other leaders to remove Monica Dias from the party for activities against the party.
Monica joined the Goa Forward Party on Monday evening at the impressive “Goal17” rally organised by the party at the multipurpose ground, Borda on Monday evening.
In her address, Monica made an appeal to senior Congress leader and former minister, Luis Alex Cardozo to join the Goa Forward Party in the interest of Goa. “Don’t try to work from behind. I have left the Congress to join Goa Forward. You should also join the party. Let us all unitedly work for Goa Forward together,” Monica said, while making an appeal to Luis Alex Cardozo to join the party.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesman Avinash Tavares said that Monica Dias had been working against the Congress party for many months particularly in Fatorda because of which the Block has written to AICC asking them to remove her from the position. “Her resignation is rhetoric just like the case of Durgadas Kamat where Fatorda block had written to Rahul Gandhi and Digvijaiya Singh for his removal. He was forced to resign failing which he would have been suspended,” he said.
Avinash said that Goa Forward Party has taken in all of Vijai’s supporters who held posts but never contributed towards the Congress party
or the people they claim
to represent.
