Monitoring CCTV cameras on mobile phone in Gulf helps nab thief in Goa

MARGAO

Technology helped prevent a daring burglary of a residential bungalow at Colmorod-Navelim on Monday evening as the Margao police nabbed a native of Rajasthan for an abortive bid to burgle the house.

In fact, monitoring of CCTV camera on the mobile phone from distant Gulf helped to nab the thief from Rajasthan, who is presently cooling his heels in the Margao police lock-up.

Margao PI Kapil Nayak informed that the owner’s wife, who is working in the Gulf called up her husband, who was away in Canacona after she found the suspicious movement of a person

inside the house on the CCTV cameras.

The husband is believed to have immediately called up the neighbours and the Margao police cordoned off the house.

While locals claim that the accomplice of the accused might have made good his escape, PI Kapil said the police are verifying through the CCTV footage whether there was more than one accused inside the house.

Incidentally, PI Kapil said the Rajasthani accused was all set to lift the valuables from the house as evident by the fact that he had almost ransacked the cupboards in search of the booty. Sources in the know said this is the fourth time that the bungalow has been the target of the miscreants.

PI Kapil said that the police are trying to find out whether the Rajasthani accused had a hand in the abortive bid to burgle the Madgaum Urban Cooperative Bank. Further investigations are on.
