PANAJI
Sources close to Monserrate said he had undergone a surgery for removal of gall bladder stone and is likely to start his formal campaign from January 8, after two days of rest.
United Goans Party General Secretary Rahul Lotlikar, however, informed that all the Panaji councillors from Babush group have begun campaign in their respective areas.
“Babush will file the nomination on January 14,” he said.
When asked about the alliance with the Congress, Lotlikar said, “Our talks are still on. Something positive is likely to come up soon.”
It may be recalled that Babush made a impassioned plea in December to the people while announcing his decision to contest in Panaji, flanked by two previous Congress candidates Surendra Furtado and Yatin Parekh.
