Goa’s cumulative monsoon rainfall deficit has crossed 32 per cent, with the State receiving 1,585.6 mm of rain against the normal 2,334 mm expected between June 1 and August 12.
According to the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin, the deficit stood at 32.1 per cent as the southwest monsoon remained weak over Goa in the past 24 hours. The IMD said light to moderate rain was recorded at many places across the State.
Rainfall activity has remained subdued in recent weeks. The highest single-day rainfall recorded so far was 89.5 mm on June 23, followed by 88.1 mm on June 30.
Wednesday saw little rain across the State, with generally sunny conditions. The maximum temperature was around 32°C, 2.7°C above normal, while the minimum was around 25°C.
Humidity remained high, with the Panaji observatory recording 83 per cent and Mormugao 92 per cent.
The IMD has issued no weather warning for Goa until August 18. Moderate rain is, however, likely during this period. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain at 31-32°C and night temperatures at 25-26°C.
