Alleging that the Mopa Airport land acquisition was a big racket, Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) leader Subhash Velingkar on Friday vowed to expose those involved in the scam. He was addressing a news conference organised at Gadekar Bhatlem-Pernem, in the presence of GSM leaders Atmaram Gaonkar, Pernem GSM Branch President Sharad Gawde, Ganesh Gaokar and Suresh Parwar.
Velingkar informed that the GSM has submitted an eight-point memorandum to government. “All these issues are or vital importance and if the government does not agree to them, we will start an agitation,” warned Velingkar.
“The land acquisition for airport is a racket to grab land as well as money and we will not remain silent till we expose those involved in the scam,” he added.
Clarifying that the GSM was not against the proposed Mopa airport, Velingkar said, “We are for the airport but it needed only 30 lakh sq mtrs of land. Why was over 1 crore sq mtrs of land acquired in three phases? This is nothing but to grab land and to give it to the builders,”
said Velingkar.
