Health Minister and Valpoi MLA Viswajeet Rane has said the youth from Sattari and Usgao would be integrated through a common think tank, where they would share their ideas and aspirations for a better Sattari.
“We take the ideas forward to convert them into a policy, which will, in turn, help me live up to the expectations of people in Sattari,” said Rane.
He was addressing a gathering at the All Goa Solo and Group Dance competition “Astitva 2019” organised by the Phoenix Socio Cultural Association (PSCA) at Valpoi.
Valpoi Municipal Council Chairperson Akhtar Shah, PSCA President Abdulla Khan, Additional Collector Vikas Gavnekar, Deputy Collector H P Vivek, Sattari Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas, Vice-Chairperson Sayyad Sarfaraz, Councillors Ramdas Shirodkar, Anil Katkar, Parveen Shaikh, Shaizin Shaikh, Parvin Khan and Atul Dantye, President of Phoenix Women’s Wing Shnuneza Khan, President of Phoenix Students Wing Majida Aga were among those present at the event.
Rane emphasised the importance of greater participation in the decision-making process, to understand people and their needs in a better way. “This is the way we move forward to bring out new policies, new initiatives and to bring in development and progress,” the minister said, while advising the Phoenix members to include more youth across the board.
Akhar Shah applauded the efforts of PSCA in recognizing the contribution of people towards society. “Phoenix members are doing a good job and as the first citizen of Valpoi, I congratulate them and assure them full support in their future endeavours,” said Shah.
Earlier, the Valpoi CHC team comprising Dr Sham Kankonkar, Dr Abhijeet Wadkar, Dr Sankesh Fadte and Aquib Shaikh were felicitated for their efforts to control KFD in Sattari.
Aryan Salunke was awarded the Late Daud Ali Aga youth award on the occasion, while Gandhiji’s Dream members were honoured for carrying out a cleanliness drive and for their initiative of wet waste bin in Valpoi and other parts of the State. During the function, VMC also launched a helpline and a vehicle for a garbage-free Valpoi.
