The Goa Kul Mundkar Sangarsh Samittee has urged the North Goa Collector to address the rehabilitation and livelihood concerns of families whose land was acquired for Mopa International Airport and the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AYUSH) at Dhargalim.
In a representation, the Samittee sought a comprehensive review of commitments made to Mopa land losers, including employment, rehabilitation, training and participation in economic opportunities generated by the airport. It also demanded a legally enforceable mechanism for 37% royalty or revenue sharing from activities arising from the acquired land, besides priority in airport-related jobs,
contracts and commercial opportunities.
For AYUSH land losers, it sought employment preference, skill training, priority in ancillary contracts, and verification of pending compensation and rehabilitation benefits. It also demanded a scheduled Kadamba bus service connecting villages across Goa to AYUSH at least once every 15 days.
On ‘Land Tiller’s Day’, the Samittee renewed its demand for legislative amendments to recognise deemed tenancy and mundkarial rights based on longstanding possession and revenue records such as Form I & XIV.
It sought a time-bound mechanism to reduce prolonged litigation and enable eligible tenants and mundkars to exercise their statutory purchase rights.
